Vampire Alexis Black is on a mission - to rejoin the human race.

Coerced into signing an ironclad contract by an Angel-with-attitude, Alexis must hunt down and assassinate at least one vampire, werewolf, or creepy crawly every night for fifty years to become human again. Too bad the contract didn’t mention the badass vampire who now rides shotgun in her brain, insatiable bloodlust, or her new I-hate-everything-with-fangs sidekick. If she can fulfill her end of the bargain, her humanity is restored, if not she will be destroyed.

But when a revenge-seeking bloodsucker threatens her city, Alexis must risk everything to ensure there’s a humanity to return to. Since her vampire nature is her greatest weapon to defeat the monsters that threaten her friends and future, Alexis must choose to accept her inner beast or watch those she loves die.

Blood and Orgasms – An Alexis Black Short Story

I needed blood and an orgasm.  Not necessarily in that order.  At least that’s what Nathan’s been telling me for weeks.  I guess even best friends can’t stand a moody bitch.
Good thing I’m a girl who likes to multi-task.
I allowed Nathan to tart me up in a black dress so low-cut, one wrong move would expose my not-very-abundant assets. We headed to a local human hot spot, and walked past a line of scantily clad woman and wanna-be Rico SauvĂ©’s.
Once inside, he sat me down at the bar and pointed his finger in my face.  “Alexis Black, you’re not getting off that stool until some unlucky sod agrees to take you home and shag you senseless.”
Sheesh.  “It’s not going to take all night.  We’ll be out of here before you know it.”  I waved him off.
“Well, aim high, don’t hop on the first one that comes your way.”   He rubbed my shoulders. “Relax.  You’ll scare away all the good ones.”  He gave me a peck on my cheek and wandered off in search of his own pulsing vein.
Ten minutes.  Thirty minutes.  Fifty minutes.  Not one man approached me.  I pulled a compact out of my purse and checked my reflection. No food in my teeth. No objects in my nose.  No fangs.
My stomach rumbled at the smell of the blood pumping through the humans on the dance floor. So enticing I had to grab the bottom of my stool to keep from snatching someone for a quick bite.  Next time I shouldn’t wait to long to feed, but I liked drinking blood as much as I liked sitting in this club.

A tap on my shoulder, and my night was looking up. I tuned around to meet my lucky admirer.  The man behind me made my lips droop. Now I was really depressed.
Mr. Mustard Stained Tie and receding hairline pointed a ring-clad finger at my half empty glass.  “Can I get you another?”
I was about to tell him no, but then I saw Nathan’s desperate nod from across the room.  Damn.  I’ve officially reached a new low.  I pasted an overly enthusiastic smile on my face.  “I’d love that.”
He pulled out a stool and almost toppled over trying to climb on. I grabbed his arm and helped him into his seat. This evening was turning into a disaster.  I still needed blood, but I think the orgasm might be out of the question.  I looked at my only option for the night, a dead ringer for Joe Pesci in the Goodfellas.  The orgasm was definitely out of question.
For ten minutes I forced myself to listen to the overeager human try to impress me with his less than stellar achievements in life.  Bored.  Hungry.  Uninterested.  I’d had enough. “Want to go somewhere private?”
He opened his mouth to say yes, but before the word fled his lips Mr. tall-dark-and-oh-my-god walked up. He grabbed my hand, pulled me from my seat, and rescued me from what was sure to be a walk of shame.   We passed by Nathan, whose cheeks were nice and rosy from his liquid dinner.  He gave me a thumbs up.
I followed my last chance for the night like horny teenager to a two-story red brick walk up. After he opened the door, he gestured for me to go ahead of him. The room I entered was solid white.  White walls, white floors, white couch, white leather armchair.  And that was all.
The door slammed.  The lock clicked.  I turned and my mouth fell open.  Mr. tall-dark-and-oh-my-god was now sporting a pair of solid black wings and a mischievous smile.
Things were not going as planned.  "Who are you?  What are you?"
"Caleb.  Angel."
He gestured to the couch.  “Sit. Please. Alexis.”
The words weren’t a request, and I don’t like to be told what to do.  “Not gonna happen.”
“Fine.”  He walked over to the chair, pulled his wings in tight and took a seat.  “You may remain standing.”
I walked over to the couch and sat down.
He let out a small laugh like I amused him.  “What a predictable creature you are.”
“Since eating you and fucking you seem to be out of the question, what do you want?”

He adjusted the crease of his tailored black pants and the cuffs of his starched dress shirt.  “I have a offer for you.  An offer that will change your undead life.”

The Best Halloween Songs You Need To Be Listening To This Holiday Season
Halloween, in my opinion, is one of the most magical times of the year. From the autumnal leaves in all of their wonderful colors just before they completely brown and dry, to the perfume of rotting apples, sickly sweet, and to the darkening sky so early in the day.

There are pumpkins carved with ghoulish grins on porches and in windows, and there is the feeling that at any turn, you may walk right into a ghost.

Parties are planned, decorations are bought and spider webs strung like the anti-garland of Christmas (which has it’s own horror roots), and the food is made.

There’s only one more thing needed, that one thing to set the mood, and it can often be the hardest to put together; the playlist. There are plenty of Halloween records out there, a Halloween station on Pandora, and they all contain familiars like ‘Monster Mash' and ‘Thriller', but there are so many other gems out there. So many unknown and not used. Treasures that have existed for as long as the record.

Below is a list of these relative unknowns and the one’s not thought about but are known by everyone. There are a couple of recognizable sonic faces on this list, but for the most part, these songs will be new friends and give you a unique touch to your Halloween romp.

I didn’t include all of my favorites, that would be too long, but I included those that I go back to again and again.

1.       Robert Johnson-Cross Road Blues: This 1936 Delta Blues track is haunting. In it, Robert sings of going to the crossroads and selling his soul to the devil for the gift of guitar playing. It is more likely, that as with all early blues, there was a great Hoodoo influence and who he refers to as the devil, is actually Papa Legba; the deity ruler of the gates to the other realms.

2.       Claudine Clark-Walkin' Through a Cemetery: This 1962 track is great with its early funk sound and her throaty voice.

3.       Jack Rivers-Haunted House Boogie: Another fun Halloween hit with Blue Grass elements is a great 1951 hit.

4.       Jack Teagarden-Putting Salt on the Devil's Tail: This 1941 big band has lingering elements of hoodoo found in early blues tracks.

5.       Cris Kevin-Haunted House: 1959 Halloween Rockabilly that is just plain fun.

6.       Louis Prima and his New Orleans Gang-Mr. Ghost Goes to Town: this 1936 Jazz hit tells a tale of a ghost looking for a good time. Considering Prima was from New Orleans, of course a ghost was walking around looking for a good time.

7.       Bauhaus-Bela Lugosi's Dead: This iconic 1982 hit from Bauhaus is a must have for Halloween, and the opening sequence of the seminal Vampire film, The Hunger, is downright decadent in its darkness.

8.       Judy Garland and the Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Cowardly Lion-The Jitter Bug: this song was cut from the 1939 film. In lost archival footage, they sing this song while in the haunted forest. It is a fun swing track that perhaps was cut because of how different from the rest of the songs are. Fits right in there with Jeepers Creepers.

9.       Screaming Lord Sutch-Jack The Ripper-this 1963 rock song is a blast. Opening with a woman running and then screaming in terror.

10.     Marilyn Manson-Sweet Dreams: this 1995 cover is dripping with nightmare. I find it to be a constant source of inspiration when I am writing a terribly dark scene.

11.     Michael Jackson-Thriller: one of the most iconic Halloween songs of all time. This 1982, Release will get you moving in all the right ways. A love letter to horror films, my favorite lyric-the one I think is the most powerful and yet so often over looked is “I’ll save you from the terror on the Screen-I’ll make you see that this is Thriller-Thriller night.” It harkens to “keep telling yourself, it is only a movie.” Like most children, the John Landis directed music video film scared me to death.

12.     Datura-Tori Amos: this almost psychedelic 1999 track celebrates the herb that was essential to a witch's ointment. This dangerous and psychotropic herb got into the pours and is believed may have been the reason witches felt as if they were flying.

13.     Robert Johnson-Hellhound On My Trail- Johnson is back with another 1937 Delta Blues track with heavy Hoodoo influence.

14.     Donovan-Season of the Witch: this 1966 track was a celebration of all of the mystical psychedelic occult revival of the hippie movement. It got a resurgence when it was featured in an episode of American Horror Story: Coven. Give this song a listen and let loose your inner Fiona Goode.

15.     Henry Hall-Here Comes the Bogeyman: this 1932 classic taught young kids how to ward themselves from the bogeyman. It plays like a creepy lullaby and has seen a new life in video games and horror films such as Jeepers Creepers and Sinister 2.  It’s haunting melody reaches out through time and has the ability to give anyone the wiggins.

16.     The Four Modernaires-Jeepers Creepers: One of my childhood favorites. Like Here Comes the Bogeyman, this 1938 hit has found infamy in no small part to the film of the same name.

17.     Ted Cassidy-The Lurch: this song (and the video, which I encourage you readers to watch) premiered October 30th, 1965 on the ABC music program Shindig! It is a great, poptastic number with an accompanying dance, and Ted Cassidy-the actor who portrayed Lurch in the Addams Family television show-appeared in costume on set and is featured in the song saying his signature “You rang?” and groaning and moaning in all his creepy and kooky glory.

There you have it! Grab these songs, add them to your party playlist, and have a scream!

Excerpt & #Giveaway: HallowErotica 2017 by Scerina Elizabeth, Lucille Moncrief, & D. Fischer

Excerpt of Short Paranormal Fantasy Erotica Story “THE SIREN” by Scerina Elizabeth

It is about a married couple who takes in a young mysterious woman who is not what or who she seems to be.  She has a secret that would forever change this couple's marriage and lives.

Here is an excerpt:
Blair honestly thought her mind was playing tricks on her when she was witnessing what look like Isabella slowly transforming into something which was clearly not human.   Blair continued to listen as Isabella explained who and what she was.

“You may have heard myths of my kind. Some call us Sirens while others called us Mermaids, but in truth we are Sea Dwellers. We are really peaceful creatures who wish to co-exist with mankind and mean you no harm. But, from time to time, we must return to the sea as we need the sea to survive. We are endangered and we need to breed to prevent our extinction. Some of us, like me for instance, breed with mortals in order to strengthen our survival. Our offspring live longer when we breed with your kind because hybrids have human DNA which can survive longer on land without having to return to the sea to survive. “

None of this was making sense to me. Mermaids, Sirens, Sea Dwellers? What on earth was happening here?

“Isabella, this is all too much to take in and process. How is any of this even possible?”

Excerpt from PRINCE OF FOOLS . . .
"House of Terriot" Book 3
By Nancy Gideon

Amber buffed the bar top to a mirror-like shine, motions brisk, leaning into the job with a fierce concentration. A thankless job because no matter how glossy she made it, the underlying scars and countless rings would soon reappear to spoil the perfect look she tried to maintain. Frederick Terriot was like that surface. Though dazzled by the shine, she knew what lay beneath. No matter how hard she worked to change that fact, the damage had already been done, the flaws she tried to overlook forever marring what she longed to embrace.
Rico was a dark storybook prince to her Cinderella barmaid. Behind that careless grin and sad eyes lay what his clan made him: Rich, deadly, proud, thoughtless as well as vulnerable, and as far above her and her dreams as his soaring mountaintop to her bayou. Men like Frederick Terriot didn’t truly see females like her, not as equals, not as feeling, wanting, sharing partners. He used them for the moment to fill a need, not a permanent void, not because he was cruel or insensitive, but because of who he’d been raised to be.
And that would never, ever change, no matter what she hoped, no matter what those soft, seducing lips might promise.

Her heart carried more wounds than her body, her mind not quite as many as her soul, yet still, foolishly, she might have taken a chance on this once in a lifetime prince if she were the only one at risk.  But she had more to protect than just herself.

Glittery Ghoul Donuts
By Laura Bickle

When I saw vampire donuts come across a friend’s Facebook feed, I knew that I had to give them a try. I’ve had my own share of Pinterest disasters, to be certain, but I think this is something I can handle. The worst thing that could possibly happen would be that I’d have a dozen mangled donuts, right? I could eat all the evidence before anyone was the wiser.

1.         I gathered my materials. I picked up a dozen glazed donuts, a bag of plastic vampire fangs, and a package of candy eyes. For fun, I got some edible glitter. I originally thought I might make sparkly vampire donuts with silver glitter, but decided to get green so that the completed creatures would remind me more of ghouls.

2.         I squished some vampire fangs into the donut holes to make mouths.

3.         Then I added the candy eyes. They stick very well into the donut glaze.

4.         Then I dusted the donuts with edible green glitter. I was pretty pleased with my green choice…they seem particularly monstrous.

5.         And ta-da! A horde of flesh-eating ghoul donuts!

I’m counting this as a Halloween craft win. Do you have any Halloween crafts you’re going to make this season? Any raven wreaths, bat cookies, or carved pumpkins on your agenda?
