Excerpt:
He stood there frozen, watching the only woman he had ever given his heart to walk away from him, and the sinking feeling of losing her again made his world spin. The words he wanted to say to her were choking him, but he fought against his body’s reaction so he could try and stop her.
He grabbed his coat and followed her toward the door, pleading with her to stop. “Lilly, wait. Please don’t leave. I need to explain.”
Her steps never slowed as her feet carried her closer to the door and farther from him.
Joshua ran after her, hoping to catch her before she made it to the safety of her car. He could tell by the way she swayed she’d had too much to drink and that she shouldn’t be driving. Just as he reached her side, he felt the breeze of her swing a second before her fist made contact with his jaw, knocking him backwards onto the ground.
“Damn it, Lilly, that hurt! Please just listen to me, and let me explain what happened that night. For fuck’s sake, Lilly, it’s been ten years. Give me a chance to talk.”
“Ten years isn’t long enough to forget what you did, much less forgive. You had your chance, and you blew it. Was one night with her worth losing me, Joshua?”
A Bitter Reunion
J.N Johnson
When Lilly Myers left Clearwater ten years ago with a broken heart, she moved to Boise and started a new life as a nurse. The last thing she ever wanted was to return home, but the invitation to her ten-year class reunion and the growing need to see her family has her boarding the first plane back.
Unfortunately, in the small town of Clearwater , nothing stays buried for long. Lilly quickly finds herself facing the past she’s longed to leave behind and the man she’s tried to forget.
Joshua Taylor has spent the last ten years managing his outfitters business, but it was never enough to keep his mind off the girl who got away. He’s always hoped the love of his life would return home and forgive him for the night she found him in another woman’s embrace.
Now Lilly, although hurt and angry, is within arm’s reach, and Joshua is prepared to fight for her. Can love blossom from such a bitter reunion?
